Members of the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards are selected in accordance with the Rules of the National Commission and the Constitution and Bylaws of the American Dental Association. The current members are listed below.

Glenn
Dr. Gayle Glenn

Dr. Gayle Glenn (AAO), Chair

Dr. Gayle Glenn is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry.  After earning her DDS at the University of Texas Dental School in San Antonio, she completed her Master’s degree in orthodontics from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1984.  She has practiced orthodontics in Dallas, Texas for over 35 years and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. An experienced leader in organized dentistry and orthodontics, Dr. Glenn is a past-president of the American Association of Orthodontists. She is a fellow in both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.

Dr. Ben F. Warner

Dr. Ben F. Warner (ADA), Vice-Chair

Dr. Ben Warner graduated from UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry and completed MS at University of Houston, MD at McGovern, Pathology/Laboratory Medicine residencies at UT Houston Hospitals and fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is Master of Academy of General Dentistry, Fellow of Academy of Laser Dentistry, ICD, ACD, ADI, PFA, and member of OKU. After retiring from private practice, he returned to his dental school alma mater and is a professor in Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health and is adjunct professor at Baylor College of Medicine. He teaches diagnosis, treatment planning and management of dental care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He is on ADA’s INBDE/ADAT/DLOSCE Test Construction Team. He serves on several boards and committees of Houston and Texas Academy of General Dentistry, Greater Houston Dental Society, American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry, and Special Care Dentistry Association.

Aste
Dr. Leonard Aste

Dr. Leonard Aste (ADA)

Dr. Leonard R. Aste is a general dentist practicing in Manti, Utah. Dr. Aste received his dental degree from  Creighton University School of Dentistry. Upon graduation he joined the United States Public Health Service where he was assigned to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Dr. Aste has served as President of his local dental society and is an Executive Board Member of the Utah Dental Association. Dr. Aste completed an eight year term on the Utah State Dental Advisory Board serving two years as chairman. Dr. Aste is a board member of the Council of Interstate Testing Agencies and is a Floor Examiner for the Western Regional Examining Boar and holds an adjunct faculty position at the University of Utah School of Dentistry General Practice Residency Program. Dr. Aste is a fellow in the ICD and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is founder and CEO of the G3 Foundation, an international dental humanitarian organization.

Dr. Michele Beeler (ADA)

Dr. Michele Beeler recently retired from her general practice in a small rural town (Liberty, KY) in Central Kentucky were she practice for 27 years.  Dr. Beeler graduated from the University of Kentucky, College of Dentistry with a Doctorate in Dental Medicine in 1994. Dr. Beeler has been a Kentucky Medicaid provider since 1994 and devoted 70 percent of her practice time to providing services for Medicaid patients. She is a member of the ADA, KDA, and BCDS.

Dr. Jeffrey Chaffin (AAPHD)

Dr. Jeff Chaffin is a public health dentist currently residing in Des Moines, Iowa. He serves as the Chief Dental Officer for Delta Dental of Iowa. His academic appointments include Assistant Professor and Dental Public Health Residency Director for A.T. Still University and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.  He completed a 21-year Army career with his last assignment serving as the Dental Chief for the TRICARE Management Activity.  He is a graduate from the University of Tampa, and received a DDS from the University of Nebraska, a MPH from the University of Michigan, a MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a MHA from Baylor University.  He completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.  Dr. Chaffin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health.  He is Past President of the American Board of Dental Public Health and the American Association of Public Health Dentistry.

Dr. Donald Clem (AAP)

Dr. Donald Clem competed his periodontal training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.  Dr. Clem has authored over 30 publication including 3 textbook chapters.  Dr. Clem continues to lecture internationally as well as conducting clinical research.  Dr. Clem has been the recipient of numerous awards including Outstanding Contributions to the Field of Periodontics, The American Academy of Periodontology  Clinical Research Award, The R. Earl Robinson Regeneration Award, The AAP’s Gold Medal Award.  He has also been recognized for Contributions to the Disabled by The Rehabilitation Institute of Southern California.    He is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, The International College of Dentists, The Pierre Fuchard Academy, The Academy of Osseointegration.  Dr. Clem has the unique distinction of serving as President of the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation, the American Academy of Periodontology and served as Chair, American Board of Periodontology.

Dr. Kitrina Cordell
Dr. Kitrina Cordell (AAOMP)

Dr. Kitrina Cordell is a 1999 graduate from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry where she continued her education receiving an MS in oral and maxillofacial pathology in 2002.  She is the Chair of the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Dentistry in New Orleans where is responsible for educating hygiene, dental and post-graduate students in both clinical and didactic settings. She is an active participant in the LSU Oral Pathology Biopsy Service and sees patients with clinical oral pathology needs in the Faculty Dental Practice. Prior to joining LSU, she was a member of the faculty at the University of Michigan from 2002-2010 where she also served as director of the Oral Pathology Biopsy Service. Dr. Cordell served as an elected councilor and is a fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, member of the North American Society of Head and Neck Pathology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.

Dr. Alan Felsenfeld

Dr. Alan Felsenfeld (AAOMS)

Dr. Alan Felsenfeld is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who is professor emeritus and practices of the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He has been a delegate to the ADA house of delegates for more than 20 years. In this capacity he served on two reference committees. In prior years he was a member of the CERP Committee and served as the inaugural chair of the Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition. He has been a site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation for more than twenty years. In the past, he was a delegate to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, as well as serving as Trustee, being a member of and chairing several committees. Presently, he is a member of the Dental Assistant Anesthesia National Certifying Examination (DAANCE) committee where he served as president and is presently a senior consultant. In California, he was a delegate and trustee for the California Dental Association as well as serving as the editor of the CDA Journal for four years and speaker of the house of delegates for six years. He is president of the Dental Board of California. Throughout his career he has been active in organized dentistry at many levels including being an examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and president of the Western Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a member of the American and International Colleges of Dentistry. Dr. Felsenfeld has given over 150 presentations both nationally and internationally.

Gluskin
Dr. Alan H. Gluskin

Dr. Alan H. Gluskin (AAE)

Dr. Alan H. Gluskin (AAE) is currently Professor, Department of Endodontics, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, University of the Pacific in San Francisco, California. He served as Chairperson of the Endodontic Department for over thirty years and at present is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists. Dr. Gluskin has served on numerous AAE committees and has just completed his tenure on the Executive Board of Directors of the American Association of Endodontists having served as Past President of the AAE. Dr. Gluskin is the 2017 recipient of the University of the Pacific’s Eberhardt Teacher-Scholar Award.

Halpern
Dr. David Halpern

Dr. David Halpern (ADA)

Dr. David Halpern is a general dentist in Columbia, Maryland. A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Halpern also completed a hospital residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. He most recently served on the ADA Council on Dental Education and Licensure and was Chair of the Committees of Continuing Dental Education and Recognition of Dental Specialties and Interest Areas in General Dentistry. He is a Past President of the Academy of General Dentistry, Howard County Dental Association, and Maryland State Dental Association Foundation.

Huber
Dr. Michaell A. Huber

Dr. Michaell A. Huber (AAOM)

Dr. Michaell A. Huber is a 1980 graduate from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School, San Antonio, Texas. Following graduation he embarked upon 22 year career serving in United States Navy Dental Corps. He received a Certificate in Oral Medicine from the National Naval Dental Center, Bethesda, Maryland in 1988 and is diplomat of the American Board of Oral Medicine. From 1996-1998, he served as Chairman, Department of Oral Medicine and Maxillofacial Radiology and Director, Graduate Program in Oral Medicine, National Naval Dental Center, Bethesda, Maryland and as Specialty Leader for Oral Medicine to the Surgeon General of the United States Navy, Washington, DC.  In 2002 Dr. Huber returned to his alma mater and is a tenured professor teaching both pre-doctoral and graduate dental students. In 2019 he was awarded the UT System Regents Outstanding Teaching Award. He is a Past President of the American Academy of Oral Medicine.

Hudis
Dr. Stephen Hudis

Dr. Stephen Hudis (ACP)

Dr. Stephen I. Hudis received a Bachelor of Music from The New England Conservatory of Music in 1975 and his D.D.S. from the New York University College of Dentistry in 1979. He completed his GPR at Bellevue Hospital Center in 1980 and received his certificate in Prosthodontics from NYUCD in 1982.
Dr. Hudis is currently Board Certified for the American Board of Prosthodontics and is a Fellow and Past-President of the American College of Prosthodontists. He is Past-President of the Mercer Dental Society, Fellow and Past-President of the Northeastern Gnathological Society, Fellow of the American and International Colleges of Dentists, and the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics. He is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration and former Treasurer of the American College of Prosthodontists Education Foundation. Dr. Hudis serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Prosthodontics.
Dr. Hudis is a former Associate Clinical Professor at the New York University College of Dentistry in the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics. Currently, Dr. Hudis is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Department of Periodontics and Post-Graduate Prosthodontics, where he is also the Assistant Program Director for Post Graduate Prosthodontics.
Dr. Hudis maintains a private prosthodontic practice in Princeton, New Jersey. 

Lang
Dr. Maureen Lang

Dr. Maureen Lang (AAOP)

Dr. Maureen Lang is a 1982 graduate of Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She went on to serve in the United States Air Force Dental Corps for over 27 years. She has completed a 2-year Comprehensive Dentistry residency at the National Naval Dental Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and a 2-year master’s degree fellowship in Orofacial Pain at the University of Minnesota. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of General Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain. She is also a past president of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain.

Dr. Julius N. Manz (ADA)

Dr. Manz graduated with honors from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in 1998.  He has served as a Professor and Director of the dental hygiene program at San Juan College for the past 20 years and  was in private practice as a general dentist in Vermont for 6 years prior.  He is a Veteran of the United States Navy having served 10 years as a Naval Submarine Officer and Nuclear Engineer.  He has served the New Mexico Dental Association as President in 2014, as both a delegate and alternate delegate to the ADA house of delegates (2013-2022) and currently serves as the Secretary-Treasurer and Board member of the NMDA Foundation.  Dr. Manz has served as a clinical and local anesthesia examiner for national licensure examinations and currently serves as a site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation.  Dr. Manz is a spokesperson for the American Dental Association and is a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Dr. Michael Mashni

Dr. Michael Mashni (ASDA)

Dr. Michael Mashni is a Dentist Anesthesiologist in private practice in Southern California.  He received his dental degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and completed his residency in dental anesthesiology at Loma Linda University Medical Center.  He has been a faculty member of the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California.  Dr. Mashni is a Past President of the American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists and Tri-County Dental Society.  He is a founder and Past President of the American Board of Dental Specialties.   He has also served as an officer on the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology and the California Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists.  Dr. Mashni is currently a member of the Board of Component Representatives to the California Dental Association.  Dr. Mashni is a member of the American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists. 

MurphyK
Dr. Kathleen Murphy

Dr. Kathleen Murphy (Public Member)
Dr. Kathleen Murphy has served for decades on various task forces and committees related to professional standards and professional ethics within different professional associations such as the National Association of Social Workers and the American Library Association. For the last decade, she has served on and managed the Social and Behavioral IRB for Northwestern University in addition to various committees at Northwestern University related to policy development, education and community engaged scholarship.

Dr. Ned Murphy (ADA)

Dr. Ned Murphy graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in  and retired from private practice in 2019. Dr. Murphy has served on the WDA Legislative Committee with two terms as WDA Trustee, WDA officer and finally WDA President.  Dr. Murphy is currently the Racine Component Secretary and volunteers at Racine Health Care Network. Dr. Murphy is a fellow in the ACD, Pierre Fauchard Academy and the ICD and is currently District 9 Vice Regent.

Radack
Dr. Stephen Radack

Dr. Stephen Radack (ADA)

Dr. Stephen Radack is a 1986 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and is a general dentist in private practice in Erie, PA. He is a past-president of the Pennsylvania Dental Association where he has also served as trustee, vice-president and treasurer. He is current the editor of the Pennsylvania Dental Journal. Dr. Radack previously served on the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (vice-chair), the ADA Committee on Annual Meetings and 14 years in the ADA House of Delegates. Dr. Radack has served on the faculty of the LECOM School of Dental Medicine and is a consultant dental examiner for CDCA-WREB. He is a fellow in both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.

Raman
Dr. Prabu Raman

Dr. Prabu Raman (ADA)

Dr. Prabu Raman is a general dentist from Kansas City, Missouri. His private practice focuses exclusively on:  Cranio Cervical Mandibular Dysfunction / Temporo Mandibular Dysfunction, Complex Aesthetic restorative Dentistry and Dental Sleep Medicine / Oral Appliance therapy.

Dr. Raman serves as an active member of the ADA House of Delegates and Dental Licensure Objective Standardized Clinical Examination steering committee of the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations. He has served on the Council on Dental Education and Licensure, as Chair of ADA Recognition of Dental Specialties and Interest Areas in General Dentistry Committee and on the Task force on Recognition of Dental Specialties and advocated for the bylaw change at the ADA HOD to create the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards.

Dr. Raman has served as President of the Missouri Dental Association and Greater Kansas City Dental Society. He received his D.D.S. degree from University of Missouri- Kansas City, B.S. Radiology Technology from William Jewell College and B.Sc. Physics from University of Madras.

Dr. Aruna Ramesh, (AAOMR)

Dr. Aruna Ramesh (AAOMR)

Dr. Aruna Ramesh is a full-time Professor and Associate Dean of Academic affairs, Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She has been a faculty member at TUSDM since 2001. She received her MS in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, School of Dentistry in 2000 and DMD from TUSDM. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (ABOMR). She served as the elected Councilor of Scientific Affairs and Public Policy for the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (AAOMR) till 2020. She is involved with educational, research, patient care and administrative responsibilities. She has a private practice limited to Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. She was the first practitioner to establish a solo private practice in OMFR in the New England area since 2008.

Dr. Cindi Sherwood

Dr. Cindi Sherwood (ADA)

Dr. Cindi Sherwood has been a general dentist practicing in Independence, KS since graduating from the University of Missouri - Kansas City in 1982. She graduated as a Registered Dental Hygienist from Wichita State University in 1975. She has served the ADA in many capacities including as a member of the Council on Dental Practice and is completing her term on ADPAC this fall. Dr. Sherwood has served over 20 years as an ADA delegate or Alternate including as a member of two Reference Committees. She is a fellow of ACD,ICD and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Sherwood is a Past President of the Kansas Dental Association and is currently a member of the Legislative Council. She has volunteered at 25 Mission of Mercy projects. Cindi also served the AGD on the Board of Trustees for 6 years representing Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Oklahoma.

Dr. Douglas A. Wyckoff

Douglas A. Wyckoff (ADA)

Dr. Wyckoff graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1992.  He has been in private practice in Cameron, Missouri since that time.  He has been active in all levels of organized dentistry, serving as President of his local dental society, and the Missouri Dental Association in 2008.  He has served on the Committee on the New Dentist and the Council on Annual Sessions for the ADA in which he was the Continuing Education Chair in is final year. He has served as a Delegate for the ADA and Missouri Dental Association and is currently the Editor for the Missouri Dental Association.

Dr. Brenda Young (ADA)

Dr. Brenda Young is a general dentist practicing in Fairfax, Virginia.  She is a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry.  She is a fellow of the Virginia Dental Association, ACD, ICD and Pierre Fauchard Academy.  Dr. Young has served as president of the Northern Virginia Dental Society and founder of the NVDS Give Kids a Smile program.  Currently, she is the Virginia Dental Association Science & Talent Award program chair and a member of the Virginia ADA Delegation.
